Republic of Kazakhstan Culture House

The Kazakhs, one of the largest Turkic peoples, also possess a very ancient history and cultural heritage. The Kazakhstan Culture House aims to share these riches and help visitors understand the cultural background we come from, by opening up this cultural spectrum as much as possible.

Swords and shields used in the traditional sword-shield game — a part of the rich tradition of the Kazakh Khanate — as well as scenes from the game, can be seen in the Kazakhstan Culture House.

In another Turkic tradition, hunting, the tools and techniques used by the Kazakhs have further developed. Examples of these include antler-handled, leather-covered arrows and bows, as well as informative panels about birds of prey used in hunting — especially falconry and eagle training — all of which are on display in the Kazakh House.

Original instruments such as the “Dombra” and the “Kobyz,” essential elements of Kazakh national music, a miniature of the Kazakh City Orchestra, and booklets containing detailed information about Kazakh music form a unique musical archive representing this culture.

Many materials that introduce prominent Kazakh statesmen, architectural works, and the history of the Silk Road are available to inform visitors.

An example of a Kazakh plateau yurt — one of the most important elements of the Kazakh nomadic lifestyle — has been set up beside the culture house. Brought from Kazakhstan and built entirely from felt and wood without the use of nails, it reflects the traditional construction methods.
