Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus Culture House

The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), governed by a multi-party parliamentary democracy, was established on November 15, 1983. With strong geographical and human ties to Turkey, the TRNC is located in the northern part of Cyprus—the third largest island in the Mediterranean, situated at the crossroads of trade routes. Covering an area of 324,168 km², TRNC’s neighbors include Turkey, Syria, Egypt, Israel, Lebanon, and Southern Cyprus.

Archaeological excavations have uncovered Neolithic settlements in Cyprus dating back to 7000 B.C. Artifacts indicate that the island’s first settlers came from Mesopotamia and Anatolia, engaged in agriculture, and domesticated animals. Communities arriving around 6000 B.C. and later introduced the craft of producing clay vessels such as pots, jugs, and cups.

The TRNC Culture House brings visitors closer to Cypriot culture and people—known for their warm hospitality—by showcasing local handcrafted textiles, special handmade soaps, traditional wheat sickles, musical instruments made from gourds, woven baskets, brooms, and various decorative items. These displays offer a stroll through a typical Cypriot bazaar.
